In the Doctoral Thesis, new chemically crosslinked ε-polylysine (ε-PL) and hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels have been synthesized, and their physicochemical properties have been characterised. The antibacterial activity of the pure component (ε-PL) and the synthesized hydrogels against various bacteria, as well as their biocompatibility using different fibroblast cell lines, has been evaluated. The hydrogels have been further functionalised with Sr-HAp nanoparticles for bone tissue regeneration applications. To assess application-specific performance, physicochemical and biological properties have been examined, including long-term antibacterial activity.
