Total Synthesis of Pyrrolo[1,4] benzodiazepine Natural Products

Guna Sakaine holds M. sc. and B. sc. degrees in chemistry from the University of Latvia. She conducted her Master’s thesis (2015) at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) working on the total synthesis of Limazepines A, C, and D under supervision of R. Zemrībo. Her Bachelor’s thesis “Synthesis and structure determination of 2,6-ditert-butyl phenol group containing drugs using X-ray crystallographic analysis” was defended in 2013. During a research stay at the University of Antwerp in 2016 (Prof. K. Augustyns group), she has gained experience in medicinal chemistry working on the development of novel phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
