Evaluation of Urban Sustainability of Uzbekistan in the Context of Regional Development

The Doctoral Thesis aims to develop an approach for assessing urban sustainability in Uzbekistan, focusing on citizens’ awareness of sustainability issues like global warming, waste management, and gender equality. A literature review using PRISMA and bibliometric analysis identified ambiguities in key terms (“urban”, “sustainability”, “urban sustainability”), prompting the author to propose clear definitions. A survey gauged sustainability awareness, and structural equation modelling (SEM) tested hypotheses. The analysis highlighted a gap in evaluation methods suitable for Uzbekistan. Using secondary data and expert interviews, the author devised a formula to assess urban sustainability, pinpointing areas needing urgent improvement.
