Lignocellulose and Polylactide Fibres in Acoustic Nonwovens and Composite Materials
Summary of Doctoral Thesis
Arta Seile, Riga Technical University, Latvia
Within the Thesis, a nonwoven material was made from a mixture of hemp and polylactide fibres using the mechanical needle punching method, from which a composite material was made using the thermopressing method. In parallel, nonwoven and composite materials were developed, where hemp fibres replace flax fibres. The priority in the development of materials was the use of annually renewable resources and environmentally friendly technologies. In the Thesis, the produced materials are compared with each other, both in terms of physico-mechanical properties and in terms of environmental aspects.
