Egīls Dzelzītis was born in 1945 in Riga.

He obtained a qualification of engineer in electromechanics from the Riga Polytechnic Institute in 1973. In 1982, in the Moscow Institute of Engineering (Russia) he defended the thesis and obtained a Candidate degree in Technical Sciences. In 2008, he obtained a professional Master’s degree in Business and Organization Management from Riga Business School. In 2016, he obtained a professional Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a qualification of electrical engineer from Riga Technical University.

Currently, Egīls Dzelzītis is the Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers and the Director of the Institute of Heat, Gas and Water Technology of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Riga Technical University, as well as the chairman of the board of the heating technique company “Lafipa”.

He is Officer of the Cross of Recognition 2012 and Honorary citizen of Ogre 2020.

His research interests are electrical technologies and automation; heat, gas and water engineering systems.
