The Thesis is dedicated to investigation of novel methods for reconstructing body shapes using embedded orientation sensors. The study introduces two significant innovations: (1) a technique that utilizes orientation sensors within elastic structures for accurate 3D shape reconstruction, and (2) an optimized data acquisition approach for body sensor networks with multiple sensor nodes. The proposed methods have been validated in a laboratory setting using an experimental device with 26 orientation sensors embedded in zigzag structures. The results are compared with existing technologies, and recommendations for design choices are provided based on the analysis of these results.
