Development of Benzoxaphosphepine Derivatives as Selective Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors

Anastasija Balašova was born in 1998 in Riga. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree (2019) and a Master’s degree with distinction (2021) in Natural Sciences in Chemistry from the University of Latvia. Since 2018, she has been working at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. Currently, she is a research assistant in the Applied Chemistry Group under the supervision of Prof. Raivis Žalubovskis. She is a co-author of the study “A new direction in the development of anticancer drugs”, recognised by the Latvian Academy of Sciences as one of Latvia’s most significant scientific achievements of 2020. Her research interests are related to medicinal chemistry and the synthesis of biologically active heterocyclic compounds. She is a co-author of five original publications and one review article.
