Methods for the Development of a Climate-Responsible Future Society

Vita Brakovska was born in 1979 in Jūrmala, Latvia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Ventspils University College (2001) and a Master’s degree in Business and Institution Management (2011). Her extensive experience in the public sector includes positions at Jūrmala City Council, the Society Integration Foundation, and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, where she worked on socio-economic and innovation development issues. Since 2011, she has been a lecturer at Riga Technical University, teaching a course on new product development to students from various faculties. For over 15 years, she has been the Chairperson of the Knowledge and Innovation Society “ZINIS”. Alongside her work at the University, she organizes co-creation events in Latvian regions focused on community participation and entrepreneurship development, with over 1,850 events held since 2009. In collaboration with the European Digital Innovation Hub, she leads digitalization training for Latvian entrepreneurs, supporting business process improvements and productivity. Vita is a certified facilitator of design-thinking methodology and a member of both the Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association and the Civic Alliance – Latvia. Her international partnerships with organizations like the European Commission, UNESCO, VASAB, the British Council, Junior Achievement, Junior Chamber International, and Trans Europe Halles have allowed her to work on researching and addressing global challenges using applied science tools. Her research interests focus on the synergy between social and environmental engineering sciences to develop new tools that promote systems thinking in addressing pressing societal issues, including climate change mitigation.
