Research, Development, and Evaluation of a Control System for Electric Traction Drives in Railway Applications
Doctoral Thesis
Description
This Thesis aims to develop and validate a control system for railway traction drives using a 2-level inverter and hybrid PWM at low switching frequencies. It includes mathematical solutions for selective harmonic elimination (SHE), a hybrid current observer, and a control system for seamless modulation transitions. Simulations in MATLAB and Simulink, along with laboratory testing on a downscaled prototype, are used to evaluate harmonic distortion, power losses, and system performance under various operating conditions.
