The Thesis was developed in response to the growing need to expand the use of local renewable energy resources in heat production while maintaining fuel quality, low emissions, and verifiable sustainability. The main aim of the study was to develop a methodology for determining the sustainability of alternative biomass and to assess its potential for heat production. The tasks of the study were as follows:

  • to assess the availability of alternative biomass and justify its selection criteria;
  • to produce alternative biomass fuel samples and determine the parameters characterising their quality;
  • to determine the efficiency and emission indicators obtained in combustion tests of the studied fuel samples;
  • to define sustainability criteria and perform a comprehensive assessment of alternative pellets.
