The teaching material covers the basic concepts of application security and security platform implementation guidelines based on a compilation of best practices, analyses the use of cryptography in .NET programs, security policies in managing and configuring .NET Framework tools, and application security testing. The course is focused on the security implementation and best practices strategy offered by Microsoft and is based on the materials of the Microsoft course “2840A: Implementing Security for Applications”. The teaching material is intended for students of the “Programming Engineer” study program of the Faculty of Engineering of the Rēzekne Academy of Technologies. It can also be used by students of other computer science study programs, as well as all interested parties who want to familiarise themselves with the security guidelines of modern applications. Successful mastery of the course material requires advanced skills in programming and working with the Microsoft .NET platform. Analysing examples is a mandatory condition. To reinforce theoretical knowledge, program code examples are provided (implemented and tested in the Visual Studio 2022 environment in the C# programming language, unless otherwise stated), as well as test questions at the end of each chapter.
