The content of the book is based on more than 10 years of experience gained by the authors in teaching courses on various aspects of satellite image processing at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (Faculty of Information Technologies), the University of Latvia (Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry and Earth Sciences), as well as at the University of Lorraine (France) and the University of Tartu (Estonia). The authors use an interdisciplinary approach, including achievements in physics and computer science, astronomy and geography, signal processing and mathematical modelling, as well as in other research fields. Lectures on Remote Sensing is a higher education course for students specialising in natural and engineering sciences. The book will be useful and interesting not only for students but also for teachers and researchers who deal with the processing and interpretation of satellite images.
