Aldis Čevers was born in 1963 in Dobele. In 1981, he graduated the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, where in 2002 he also obtained a Master’s degree in Law. He has worked in higher education institutions (University of Latvia, Riga Technical University), in the private sector and in public administration (Main Customs Board of the State Revenue Service). He has academic work experience of 30 years. Since 2002 he has been working at the Department of Customs and Taxes of the Institute of International Economic Relations and Customs of the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management of RTU, holding the position of a practical Assistant Professor. A. Čevers has given lectures on customs law issues at the universities in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan, participated in the training of entrepreneurs and public administration employees, provided opinions on customs issues for entrepreneurs and judicial authorities. The training has taken place through participation in various events and conferences at the national and international levels in the field of customs and related issues. A. Čevers has taken part in various international projects as an expert in customs issues. Since 2019 he has been a member of the EU Assessment Board of Customs Academic Programmes. His main research areas are customs functions and their implementation, organization and evaluation of customs work, and legal regulation of customs matters. He is the author of three textbooks and a number of scientific articles.
